BALTIMORE, MD – One year after leading the nation with a school-record 13 CoSIDA Academic All-District selections, the Johns Hopkins football team did itself one better – literally – as the Blue Jays reset the school record and led the nation again by placing 14 players on the 2021 Academic All-District II Football Team it was recently announced. This is the fourth time in seven years that Johns Hopkins has placed 10 or more players on the team as 10 Blue Jays were honored in 2014 and 2015 to go along with the 13 a year ago.
This is the 13th consecutive year that the Johns Hopkins football program has produced six or more Academic All-District selections and pushes the Blue Jays' total to 143 Academic All-District selections in the last 19 years and 169 selections since 1991.
To be eligible for CoSIDA Academic All-District honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.30 cumulative GPA, be a sophomore or above and a starter or significant reserve. Individuals named to the Academic All-District Team go on the ballot for Academic All-America; that team will be announced on December 16.
